Political Astrology Palestine March 08 15 November 1988 1.40 am Jerusalem
POSTINGS from Astrology of Today's News: Palestine From: Marjorie. (01 Mar 2008 20:34): With Israel stepping up the pressure on Gaza and talking of a full scale invasion all the warning signs from the Palestine 1988 chart are being borne out. See posting January 28 08 below. Pluto is at the moment on the exact conjunction to the 4th house Saturn causing hardship and misery. From March 10th Pluto is square Mars which is violent, risky, very angry and frustrated. Since it's a 7th house Mars, close neighbours are the both the target and source of the aggravation. Pluto on Mars stays in situ till late April 08, returning across the New Year and twice again in 2009 up to November 09. Neither Palestine nor Israel look to be coming out of this with any sense of victory since a deflating Neptune squares Palestine's Sun at the moment and Israel's from mid March to late April. These transits repeat till January 09 for Palestine and till November 09 for Israel. Israel's chart is generally over heated this year with an over forceful Pluto trine Mars running since 2007, and having its final direct aspect from late July to late October. But the Neptune aspect to the Sun, as well as to Mars/Pluto, Mars/Saturn and Jupiter/Saturn this year suggests that nothing will bring the solid result they want. The USA is in the most awkward highly strung phase in a long time over Palestine with Uranus transits triggering the Mutable Grand Cross in the composite of Uranus opp Sun Mercury square Pluto opp Jupiter. Never a stable relationship at the best of times, it will be jittered, jangled and thrown completely off balance by what's around this year. Uranus is on Uranus exactly at the moment and opposing Mercury which is overly excitable and not co-operative, moving towards the square to Pluto for the first time from late Aril onwards which will throw everything up in the air. Neptune is also square Saturn at the moment and through the rest of this year which will give rise to doubt, suspicion and distrust on both sides. Palestine Egypt: Middle East on Edge From: Marjorie. (25 Jan 2008 20:35): The Egyptians are increasingly at odds with the USA at the moment with Uranus opposing Mars on the composite till early February. Condoleeza Rice is exerting pressure on President Mubarak to restore the border barrier with Palestine. Conditions in Gaza have deteriorated recently to an even more un-humanitarian level than usual as Israel builds up the pressure by closing border crossings into Israel as retaliation against rocket attacks. The desperate Palestinians broke down the border with Egypt to flood across to buy supplies with certainly fits with a rebellious transitting Pluto Uranus conjunction on the Palestine chart. There was never any doubt that Palestine would facing an even more uncomfortable year than usual in 2008 as Pluto starts to conjunct Uranus in January with upsets, upheavals and revolts, continuing through the rest of the year; then Pluto goes on to a bleak, tough Saturn conjunction bringing more deprivation in February, which influence repeats on and off till the end of 2009. Pluto then squares Mars in March and April which is ruthless suppression, violence and great anger and frustration. That also runs till late 2009. Neptune also squares the Palestinian Sun which is undermining from mid February to mid March, sticking around till the year end. There's also a feeling of hopelessness about the Palestine/Israel composite - so much for GWB and Tony Blair's peace making initiatives. There will be a decisive shift in Egyptian/Palestine relations from early February though it will be a jolting shift. Mubarak will have serious internal dissent if he acts too harshly against the Palestinians, whose unhappy plight arouses sympathy and support in Egypt.. Lebanon also looks like a tinderbox ready to blow from March onwards across the period when the USA has an edgy, insecure Uranus square Mars on their chart, so rash misjudgements are likely. And Israel does not look like winning this year with Neptune coming up to oppose Mars/Saturn from mid February which looks dangerous and damaging, heading into a Neptune square Sun from March which is muddled, indecisive and not morale boosting. Palestine From: Marjorie. (17 Jun 2007 11:58): With the best will in the world it's difficult to see much joy ahead for Palestine in the immediate coming years. Indeed what lies ahead looks like a relentless series of disasters for the next six or seven years. Pluto heading for Capricorn and picking up the square to Saturn in Libra and another square to Uranus will bounce unhappily off the Palestine 4th house Uranus, Saturn, Neptune square Mars until 2014. So gloomy prognostications about the present internal troubles setting back the Palestininian cause for a generation may well be not far off the mark. Saturn will square the national Sun in late June/early July 07 which is always sobering and discouraging. Then Saturn proceeds to square Jupiter from late September, on and off till mid 2008, which will damp enthusiasm and lower hopes. 2008 sees Pluto conjunct the 4th house Uranus which suggest tremendous internal upheaval, revolution and with Pluto also conjunct Saturn and square Mars in 2008 and continuing through 2009 it will be dangerous, with an already beleaguered people suffering yet more deprivation and risk. The composite chart with the USA doesn't give any hint of an easing of the fractured relationship through the next two years. And the Palestine/Israel chart, always difficult at the best of times, is being aggravated through this year especially in July and August and towards the year end. From late 2009 onwards Saturn in late Virgo squares the 4th house Uranus in the Palestine chart causing instability and then goes on into Libra in 2010 to oppose Mars and square Saturn which will bring yet more setbacks. Then Uranus moving into Aries in 2011 will trigger disruptive catastrophes as it conjuncts Aries and squares Uranus and Saturn. These will roll into 2012 when Pluto is conjunct the 4th house Neptune which will erode national foundations still further. Rebuilding any kind of national coherence will be a slow difficult job thereafter lasting right through the next decade. PALESTINE CHARTS: Two charts exist for modern day Palestine. One is the Yasser Arafat proclamation in 1988 in Algeria of Palestine Independence, relocated to Jerusalem. The other is the moment of Palestinian autonomy of Jericho and the Gaza strip on 4th May 1994, 8.55 am GMT, after the Israel-PLO Peace Accord was signed. The first seems the more accurate in terms of national identity, relationships and subsequent events. PALESTINE 1988 CHART: The 1988 chart has a 4th house Uranus in late Sagittarius conjunct Saturn and Neptune in Capricorn describing a country for whom roots and domestic foundations are a highly unsettled issue. Uranus makes for constant movement, tensions, instability and insecurity. Saturn makes building a home and an agricultural economy hard labour. Neptune describes home and family as an ideal rather than a reality. High hopes bring disappointment. Palestinians feel they have to sacrifice their individual yearnings in the struggle for national identity. The Sun, Mercury, Pluto conjunction in Scorpio was always guaranteed to bring power struggles as the key national issue. Dominate or be dominated; there only seem two alternatives. But Scorpio’s unrelenting determination never to give in will always make submission an impossible choice. Mars in Aries in the 7th produces an aggressive stance towards neighbours, a determination to fight force with force. Mars is also square Uranus (= explosive), Saturn (= resentment at unfair treatment and abuse), Neptune (= feeling impotent). There is a ‘healing’ potential in this chart from a 10th house Chiron at 6 degrees Cancer which completes the cardinal T square, and forms a grand trine with the Scorpio planets and the 6th house Pisces Node and kite with the opposition to the 4th house Capricorn planets. But it will require an established Palestinian government in place; and one of a less military, more caring (Cancerian) variety, perhaps even with a woman at the top. This is a nation with a good deal to give to the world in terms of service, including medical knowledge, once it’s basic survival problems are overcome. Palestine & Israel The synastry with Israel is unsurprisingly immensely difficult. The Palestine Scorpio stellium opposes Israel’s Taurus Sun & Moon’s North Node and squares their Leo Moon, Pluto, Saturn, Mars conjunction. It is truly implacable force meets immoveable object. But there is hope from Israel’s chiron falling within a degree of the Palestine Scorpio Sun. The creation of a Palestinian national identity is an integral part of Israel’s healing process from it’s own past suffering. In the perpetrator/victim cycle when the survivor in a desperate psychological attempt to avoid facing the realities of what was done to them ‘colludes internally with the aggressor’ and becomes one themselves, the chain of abuse grows ever longer. Israel at an emotional level as a nation needs to empathise with the disempowered, exiled Palestinians; to see their plight as not dissimilar to the Jewish disaporas before the reconciliation can truly take place. The composite Palestine/Israel chart is also volatile, riven with tensions, but is no more awkward than the Anglo-French composite. So there could in the longer term be a way of expressing their differences through a world forum rather than by the use of explosives. Neptune in Scorpio squaring a Sun, Mercury, Venus conjunction in Leo here suggests an evasiveness and distrust, of hopes being continually dashed. These planets were triggered over the recent Intifada as Uranus opposed the Leo planets and squared Neptune from 2001, causing high levels of instability, anxiety on both sides and severed relations as Sharon refused to deal with Arafat. Pluto also opposed Mars at 15 degrees Gemini on the point of a T square to a Jupiter (14 degrees Virgo) Pluto opposition (27 degrees Virgo). This brought to the surface the underlying hatred on both sides (Pluto opp. Mars) and the desire not be outdone by the other’s power (Pluto square Jupiter). Pluto will not clear this T square until 2008. By which time an undermining Neptune opposition to the composite Sun, Mercury, Venus and trine Saturn picks up running for three years and disruptive Uranus picks up the explosive T square through 07/08/09. Palestine/USA With two grand crosses in the composite, this is, to put it mildly, a challenging relationship. The mutable grand cross in the composite, involving a Jupiter Pluto opposition and a Sun Mercury opposition Uranus, suggests a highly strung relationship, constantly in flux, swinging from control to rejection, high to low very rapidly, destined to live through times of major change, never stable. Pluto triggered this mutable grand cross from 2002, attempting to clear out the past and put a transformed situation in its place and will only leave by the end of 2004. Uranus created more disruptions between them as it started aspecting this grand cross from 2007 onwards until 2009. The other grand cross in fixed signs of Mars in Taurus opposing Neptune and Saturn describes high levels of mistrust on both sides, a degree of paranoia and constant ego dents from any attempted co-operative venture. These square onto a Moon Venus opposition. Neptune in transit squared Mars in Taurus in 2003 (August & December). Neptune slowly wend its way round the grand cross coming to an undermining nadir as it squares Saturn in 2007 & 2008. This might suggest that the solution to Palestinian statehood does not lie in America’s hands. Although intriguingly the Pal/USA composite Moon’s North Node in Taurus falls on the exact degree of Israel’s Sun. This suggests the key developmental challenge, indeed the only imperative for Palestine and USA co-operation lies in finding an agreement over Israel. ASTRO-HEADLINES: Input January 2006. With both charts having several fixed planets in Scorpio and Taurus, the second half of 2006 and up to June 2007 look to be a sobering time with realistic Saturn in Leo in square, bringing financial cutbacks and some gloom. Hamas’s entry into democratic leadership and the transition away from guerilla warfare will not be an easy one. International threats of the withdrawal of cash aid may be part of the immediate picture. On the 1988 chart Uranus conjuncts the Pisces Moon’s North Node through 2006 from March till January 2007 suggesting a key turning point is being reached with the possibility of real freedom for a viable Palestininian State if handled sensibly or anarchy if not. On the 1994 chart Jupiter is moving through the 4th house, from late November 2005 over the time of Sharon’s retirement from the political scene and the democratic elections which does suggest a sense of growing comfort amongst the Palestinian people. Jupiter will also in 2006 aspect the congregation of fixed planets in Scorpio and Taurus which will bring rising confidence to offset Saturn's setbacks at the same time. Saturn is also moving into the first quadrant from late 2005 as well for several years pointing to a need to look at more internal matters of reconstruction, rather than fighting external battles. The hope thus would be that Palestine moves away from Fatah’s corruption into a time when Hamas decides to lean more towards its welfare activities and away from its bombing campaign. Certainly it would not be a time to push ambitiously with outside ambitions. Uranus going into the 8th for several years may point to fluctuations in internal financial aid. On the 1988 chart Jupiter will move into the 3rd house from early 2007 bringing more freedom of room to move within the country and an expansion in communication. Though health and employment problems may also come to the fore with Uranus moving into the 6th. On the 1994 chart Uranus is square Venus from late January 2006 bringing emotional reactions, some upsets and conjunct Saturn from mid February 2006 which will bring jolting changes, high tensions and some outbursts. These both run till the end of 2006. 2007 sees Neptune square the 1988 chart Sun in 2007 which will be undermining, unrealistic, scandal prone, not successful. And by 2008 Pluto is conjunct Uranus in this chart bringing a tremendous upheaval with a real need by the people of breaking away from restrictive circumstances. It will be highly impatient, not disciplined, and could bring an internal revolution. With Pluto immmediately moving to conjunct Saturn in Capricorn at 0 degrees from late 2008 it will be a bleak time, requiring yet more toughness of spirit from an already beleaguered people. In 2009 Pluto then squares Mars as well. So violence is likely and a pervasive sense of oppression. Input:November 04. 2006 is the year when Uranus is conjunct the Palestine North Node and trine Pluto so freedom will be a strong possibility. But the message of the Pisces North Node is that fulfilment only comes when the past can be let go – as much of a psychological challenge for Palestine as for Israel. This nodal position also has much to do with acquiring faith and trust, and letting go judgement.
