In the News / Celebrity Astrology Princess Diana - Mar 08 1 July 1961 7.45pm Sandringham, England
Princess Diana Inquest From: Marjorie. (23 Feb 2008 20:56): It may seem macabre but the charts of people who have died do show up events relating to them which happen years later. Sigmund Freud's chart (died 1939) showed major pressures in the 1980s when his reputation was under attack; Mozart's chart (died 1791) showed success when Amadeus the play and movie about his life were launched. Princess Diana's chart at the moment has Saturn opposition that crucial Mars Pluto conjunction which was to play such a fateful part in her death. Saturn is about facing reality and for that reason can be discouraging. Saturn Pluto can feel never ending; Saturn Mars brings irritation, harsh words. Neptune this year will also start to aspect her fixed T square of Aquarian Moon opposition Uranus square Venus in Taurus. That tends to bring emotional disappointment so perhaps a less than satisfactory result or maybe just more mourning. Pluto was just into her 12th house when she died ushering in a few stuck years, and as it exited two years ago moving into her 1st house, it was perhaps a sign that there was finally movement on a UK investigation and the subsequent long-delayed inquest. When she died on August 31 1997 Pluto was squaring her 9th house Mars Pluto conjunction indicating high stress and risk (Pluto Mars), especially abroad (9th). The separating Uranus Neptune conjunction was sitting on her Saturn Jupiter conjunction - Neptune conjunct Saturn exactly which is confusing and panicky; Uranus on her Jupiter which is usually relief but since her Jupiter is exactly opposition Sun/Mars, it would have the effect of Uranus on Sun/Mars which is accident prone. Also her Tertiary Progressed Saturn was exactly conjunct that Jupiter (to within 2 minutes) which damps down the luckier side of Jupiter. Jupiter Saturn conjunctions in birth charts of the very famous can be an indication of a life cut short - John Lennon, J.F.Kennedy - Jupiter sent them too high, and Saturn cut them down. Her romance with Dodi Fayed, a charming, though vague and adventurous Aries with a deeply emotional water trine, looks light hearted with a frivolous Venus Jupiter conjunction in the composite chart. Though since that opposes Neptune there's also a hint of delusion, a dream too good to come true on one side or the other. It really was a fated relationship in the sense that Dodi Fayed's Mars was at 2 degrees Gemini as was the composite Sun so exactly on the opposition to transitting Pluto when the accident happened. This wasn't likely to be a successful relationship long term since Princess Diana's Saturn fell (probably) close to Dodi's Capricorn Moon and certainly opposing his Uranus Jupiter conjunction so she'd block out his feelings and his enthusiasm. What he did offer her with his Sun in her 4th is the chance of a beautiful home and what appeared to be an attractive family life with the extended Fayed family. In many ways her relationship to his father Mohammed was stronger - his birth year is slightly questionable - but on 26 Jan 1929 it puts transitting Uranus exactly on his Sun when the accident happened which does rather fit. There's an affectionate Sun Venus conjunction on their composite and his Sun falls on her Jupiter which is morale boosting, and his Jupiter falls in her 4th, again suggesting the offer of a comfortable, secure home would be attractive. But in the longer term with his Pluto in her 8th and close to her Sun it would turn out to be a highly controlling connection with him pulling the strings. He'd also find her very determined, rather manipulative approach aggravating since her Mars Pluto falls close to his Neptune. If this is the right year for Mohammed Al Fayed then his Mars in Gemini opposition Saturn square Venus in Pisces hits very awkwardly off Prince Philip's Gemini Sun Mars square Saturn in Virgo. So his obsession with Prince Philip being the puppetmaster pulling the strings is partly the result of that difficult chemistry. Mohammed's Pluto also falls close to the UK 10th house Moon, which represents the ruling Royal Family and the Government. His need to control or bring down (Pluto's destructive tendencies) comes out of his compulsive need to remake and mould to his will the key family of the realm (Pluto in Cancer). Having been rejected as a British citizen it must have seemed that he had finally got everything he wanted when Princess Diana and Dodi got together. It's not impossible to imagine that they would have married since on Diana's astrocartography her Venus I.C line falls directly through Cairo, Egypt suggesting that's where she'd find an elegant and beautiful home. But it would all have ended in tears. Her Sun IC line falls through India, close to Pakistan where the love of her life Dr Hasnat Khan came from. Relocating her chart to Islamabad it puts her Cancer Sun in her 4th - all she really wanted it seems was a settled home and family life. Her relationship with the UK was always going to be a key one since her Cancer Sun is exactly conjunct the UK midheaven, close to the 10th house Moon and opposition the Capricorn Sun. Her Venus also fell in the UK 8th suggesting a relationship that touched a deep chord. Her Uranus was also exactly conjunct the UK 11th house Saturn so she had a jolting effect especially on the conservative elements of society and government. Her composite with the UK shows great affection with a Sun Venus conjunction trine Pluto and a Moon Jupiter conjunction. However it's not all easy since Sun and Venus square Mars so there would be an exasperation as well. And the Moon Jupiter opposes Saturn Neptune so there would be an ambivalence, a constant see-sawing of feeling about her. This year might be expected to bring some stability to the connection with Saturn trine Moon Jupiter. Uranus is also squaring the Moon's Node which might suggest enlightenment but can also bring unsettling revelations and that's likely to continue through next year as well. Then it will all surface again through 2010 to 2014 as first Saturn, then Pluto and Uranus bounce off the composite Sun Venus square Mars - so any prospect of her being allowed to rest in peace looks unlikely. Though arguably that isn't what she would have wanted. The mythic Princess Diana who touched hearts and raw nerves right round the globe seems destined to rank alongside Marilyn Monroe, Elvis Presley and J.F. Kennedy as a personality who will live on in legend for ever. With a 7th house Cancer Sun and Mercury, she was blessed with a public relations talent for relating to people at a one-to-one level socially and professionally. Actresses often have this placing. A sparkling Venus in the 5th gave her a love for parties and the spotlight as well as skills in the entertainment and arts businesses. Overtly affectionate and tactile, she could hold centre stage with grace, charm and a light touch. But with Venus in square to her Moon, there was always a feeling of superficiality, a hint of personal vanity, a sugary sweetness that was not quite the whole truth. Her relationship to her mother was the source of this surface friendliness which could, all too rapidly, turn sourly resentful. Cancerians are moody at the best of times, fickle in their likes and dislikes, highly self protective, hyper-sensitive to criticism, rarely finding it easy to forgive or forget perceived slights. Diana was more so because of her Aquarian Moon opposition to Uranus, suggesting a mother who was also extreme in her emotional reactions, either switched on or switched off, an erratic, unpredictable force in her life, and absent for much of her childhood. For Cancerians, the mother figure is of supreme importance, so Francis Shand Kydd abandoning the marital and family home when Diana was six years old, would have been an unbearable and ultimately unforgiveable hurt. The support of a close partner would have been a necessity with her 7th house Sun, yet her detached air sign Moon made her fear intimacy. Her childhood experience also made it difficult for her to hold her feelings steady enough to make long term commitments. Diana had many fine qualities, amongst which were a tolerance for people of all creeds and backgrounds. Her friendly, humanitarian Moon was ably supported in this by expansive, enthusiastic Jupiter also in Aquarius. Out of the seething mass of contradictions in her temperament, she was able to make a substantial impact in her arenas of compassionate concern. Yet even her choice of charities is telling. AIDS, Hospices, the Homeless, Landmines – all about death or dismemberment. The darkness in Diana stemmed from a powerful, enraged Mars Pluto conjunction in Virgo, sign of the helper and healer. Situated in the 9th house of communication and travel it gave her trenchantly strong opinions but also the courage to take her pet causes to a global audience, often travelling to far flung and dangerous places. Uranus also in the 9th attracted her to alternative outlooks, New Age beliefs and made her uncomfortable in highly traditional situations where toeing the conventional line was expected. This toxic, high-risk Mars Pluto conjunction in her chart was being triggered by transitting Pluto squares in the 18 months before her death. More significantly it was also conjunct the Virgo solar eclipse which occurred only one day after her death. Eeriely this eclipse was in the same Saros cycle as the preceding one, 18 years before, which had over seen the assassination of Prince Charles’ uncle, Lord Louis Mountbatten. (See: eclipses) The other point of note in Diana’s chart is the Saturn Jupiter conjunction in late Capricorn and early Aquarius. Jupiter brings vision and idealism, Saturn brings realism. In key individuals, this conjunction can tap them into the zeitgeist, the spirit of the age, making them icons for the masses. But it can also cut down savagely those who defy the gods by flying too high or who are expected to bear the burden of the projected dreams of too many. J.F.Kennedy was elected as the ‘Camelot’ president on a Jupiter Saturn conjunction, and like other US Presidents who came to the White House under this marker, his time in office was cut tragically short. John Lennon, born on this conjunction in 1940, made his debut on the next conjunction 20 years later and was gunned down on the next, aged 40. Princess Diana had her ‘fairy tale’ wedding on a Jupiter Saturn conjunction, within days of a Libra (relationship) solar eclipse. If the Jupiter dream over inflates, it brings into play the opposite extreme of Saturn’s darkest reality - the grim reaper.
