Guy Fawkes - Aquarian revolutionary From: Marjorie. (26 Nov 2008 20:18): One of the most celebrated revolutionaries in English history was Guy Fawkes, the munitions expert behind the attempt to blow up the Houses of Parliament with King James 1 in situ in 1605. It was part of the ongoing spat by Roman Catholics trying to topple the Protestant monarchy. Guy Fawkes Day has been celebrated ever since on Nov 5 as fireworks day which says a good deal about the quirky English sense of humour. Tho'' it was also in the early days supposedly to celebrate the safe deliverance of the King as the plot was foiled. Fawkes was a confident, uncompromising Aquarian with Sun, Mercury and Jupiter conjunct. And Uranus, ruler of the Sun, was on the focal point of a mini grand trine to an exact, ruthless and obsessive Saturn in Scorpio trine to Mars in Pisces. When the attempt took place his natal Jupiter in late Aquarius in an adventurous, self justifying conjunction to Mars in early Pisces had both moved by Solar Arc into Aries and was then in 1605 square his emphasised Uranus. So his chart had moved itself into a position to trigger his rebellious instincts. Though having squared Uranus it also arguably pulled in his Saturn Mars trine - he was hanged the following January tho'' he foiled his executioners by leaping to his death before he could be disembowelled alive which was the fate in store for him. The Solar Arc Directions on the UK 1066 chart are also notable - since the SA Uranus was in 1605 exactly in opposition to Mars in Aquarius which is explosive, disruptive, a real jolt. On the 973 AD England chart the SA Pluto was sitting conjunct the Sun Mars conjunction in Taurus - so again a dangerous, angry time. Since Guy Fawkes is such a celebrated figure living on in annual jamborees in the UK he must have strong connections to the England charts which indeed he does. His Uranus is conjunct the 1066 Capricorn Sun suggesting a rebellious interface. And his Mars in Pisces (with his Jupiter close by) is exactly conjunct the England Pluto so his angry resentment about the past (Mars in Pisces) along with his holy crusade (Mars Jup) led him into headlong collision with the establishment (Pluto). On the 973 England chart his adventuring Jupiter with Mars close by is exactly opposition with 973 England Pluto. And his Aquarian Sun is square the England Sun Mars in Taurus so he was bound to arouse anger and brutal suppression since the 973 England has a Sun Mars Pluto square. The astrology all fits beautifully together in a somewhat gruesome story.
Charles 1 and Cromwell From: Marjorie. (23 Nov 2008 11:26): Charles 1 was a late Scorpio and Oliver Cromwell an early New Moon in Taurus so it was a stubborn match. Charles was a weakly child so I''d doubt the story about the fight - he couldn''t walk or talk till he was three and even as an adult was very small and not robust. Though there was certainly no love lost between them. Charles had an autocratic Uranus in Taurus opposition Saturn in Scorpio, with his Saturn exactly conjunct Cromwell''s Sun, close to Cromwell''s Moon - so there were blockages, coldness and a distinctly disruptive dynamic to their relationship. Cromwell born 6 months earlier than Charles had the Uranus Pluto and Mercury conjunction in Aries so was a revolutionary at heart. Plus a Mars in Aries opp Saturn square Jupiter - so was cruel, military, lucky and patriotic, ambitious, full of initiative. Charles has a more scattered chart with a Full Moon (probably), the see saw Sat Ur opp and a reckless Mars Venus in Sag square Jupiter. Cromwell''s Uranus Pluto conjunction falls conjunct the 1066 England ascendant which is descriptive of a man who changed the image of the country radically in a few short years. On the 973 England chart his Ur Pluto plus Mercury and Taurus New Moon all fall in the 9th house hinting at the religious basis for some of the argument, switching the country down a more Protestant/Puritan road. Cromwell''s Uranus is also exactly trine the England 973 Pluto so he was custom built to push through changes to the power structure. When Charles 1 was beheaded in 1649 the transitting Saturn Pluto opposition Uranus Neptune was almost exactly squaring onto a transitting Moon Mars conjunction in Virgo opposition Venus in Pisces - so producing a transitting Mutable Grand Square - the whirlwind of change was definitely wreaking havoc. Interestingly Charles 1 Solar Arc directions at the time of his death saw SA Pluto at 11 Gemini caught up in the hard aspects from tr Sat Pluto opp Ur Nep. So transits to SA directions certainly help to show up major life events. What is fascinating about all of this highly mutable, fast change energy around in the heavens. There in the middle was the man, Oliver Cromwell, who stirred it all up, was the agent for change, and he didn''t have a mutable planet in his chart - - he was all Cardinal (Aries, Cancer, Libra) and Fixed (Taurus, Leo).
English Civil War From: Marjorie. (22 Nov 2008 17:19): The English Civil War 1642 to 1651 which covered the beheading of Charles 1 and the establishment of a virtual republic under Cromwell was basically a punch up between the Royalists and the Parliamentarians. It effectively ended the concept of an absolute monarchy and moved England another step down the road towards being a democracy. There was an especially unpleasant set of influences during these years - a transitting Saturn Pluto conjunction in Gemini opposing a Uranus Neptune conjunction in Sagittarius. Saturn Pluto is tough times and deprivation; Saturn Uranus economic problems and jolting changes; Saturn Neptune is doubt, suspicion, anxiety; Neptune Pluto is megalomania and devastation; Uranus Neptune is highly strung, very stressed; Uranus Pluto is revolution. Both Uranus Pluto and Saturn Neptune tend to see fights for the underdog and workers'' rights asserting themselves. So without or without a Civil War everything would have been in ferment. Depending on which England chart you use it tends to hit key planets. The 973 AD 12 noon chart has tr Pluto moving across the midheaven as Charles 1 came to power, attempting in his early years to exert more control, exact higher taxes and thro'' his infamous Star Chamber ride roughshod over human and legal rights of the individual. All of which sounds like Pluto in the 10th - oppressive, ruthless and it evoked a back lash. Pluto had been just before hostilities broke out conjunct Sun, MC and Mars and square Pluto which would boil up rage. The Civil War started as tr Pluto headed for the 10th house Moon, symbol of the ruler. So Pluto was there in its deconstruct and reconstruct mode in the house of rulership. Tr Uranus was also at its return in the 3rd, stoking up agitated discussion amongst the ordinary people. Tr Neptune was just into the 4th making for a sense of dissolving foundations. Soon to be joined by tr Uranus it was to make for a highly unsettled few years for England at a domestic level. So the tr Sat Pl opp Ur Nep fell on the 10th/4th axis making for complete disruption for the masses and the government/rulers. There was also a transitting Jupiter Saturn conjunction in Pisces as the Civil War started pointing to a vision for change. Interestingly on the England 1066 chart this Jup Sat conjunction of 1642 was opposition the natal Jupiter Saturn conjunction in Virgo perhaps suggesting the old vision of England no longer worked and needed to change. More pertinently transitting Pluto was square the natal Pluto - see previous posting Sept 12 - "The Pluto squares, oppositions and returns on a national chart do seem to coincide with either internal civil wars or major shifts in the country''s place in the global pecking order, sometimes up but mainly down." On the 1066 12 pm chart the tr Saturn Pluto opp Uranus Neptune is 2nd and 8th house emphasising the major financial implications and indeed triggers for the war. And on the 1066 chart the tr Sat Pl opp Ur Nep would be square the natal Jupiter Saturn opp Pluto, forming a Mutable Grand Square - so not only was it a fight for power (Jup Pl), and whose vision (Jup Sat) was to be enacted, it also led to a highly unstable, whirlwind of a few years where nothing stayed the same for long. Mutable Grand Squares act like a windmill in a storm - with rolling crises. The American Civil War was a different kind of beast entirely. It occurred as tr Saturn square Mars Uranus jolted the Uranus in Gemini on the US chart so it was more a fight for freedom of action and belief, perhaps the Geminian split quality being emphasised - north versus south, a nation of two races virtually. Whereas in England it was the people versus the monarch - and more an argument about who ruled and how.
England 973 AD From: Marjorie. (20 Oct 2008 14:41): Differing dates for the birth of a country are a minor nightmare. However what you find with significant dates in the country''s history several of which could be the ''birth'', is that the chart for each one acts resonantly to later effects. Sometimes as in the earlier date for Scotland it plain doesn''t work when later events are plotted on to it which is easy since it just gets tossed. In this case the chart for 11 May 973 AD at 12 pm Bath, England and for 25 December 1066 both work reasonably well when later events are plotted against them. The major events in English history - the Magna Carta, Henry V111''s split from Rome, Elizabeth 1''s reign (Armada), the Act of Union with Scotland, Union N Ireland, WW1, WW11 etc - do show up on both though I''d marginally favour the 973 chart which seems to show slightly more. However both work. The England 973 AD chart in many ways resonates to the 1801 chart better since it is similarly very fixed - Mercury, Sun, MC, Mars in Taurus opposition Uranus square Pluto conjunct Ascendant so ambitious, hugely stubborn, aggressive, controlling. With a 10th house Gemini Moon (as in 1801 = significant women rulers) and a well organised Saturn in the 10th in Gemini trine Neptune square Jupiter in Virgo. There''s an international finance oriented Venus in Aries in the 8th. An understated Virgo Ascendant. Since there is a validity in the England 973 chart:- this year transitting Neptune trines Sun, midheaven, Mars which is panicky, undermining, a sense of failure and since that is tied into a T square it''ll run on for a couple of years yet till Neptune clears the opposition to Pluto. Pluto is also this year trine the Ascendant from the 5th so desperate efforts to shore up image and stay a world player of substance. But into 2009 tr Uranus squares the 10th house Saturn which brings jolting changes of a disappointing and confusing variety since tr Neptune also trines Saturn. One other way of checking country dates is to do composites and then check past events against them. Looking back over momentous events of Scots v English - 1342 expelling the English, 1513 defeat, 1707 Union and 1998 Scotland Devolution Act - the composites of both 1066 & 973 England and 1034 Scotland do resonant to those events. On both the 1034 Scotland/973 England and 1034 Scotland/1066 England there are signs of a major move afoot with a distinct possibility of a split in the years ahead. The 973/1034 Eng/Scot has Pluto conjunct Neptune (09/10) and square Moon (10/11); plus Uranus opposition Uranus in 09 and Saturn conjunct Uranus in 09/10; plus Neptune conjunct the composite Sun in 09/10. The 1066/1034 Eng/Scot has the tr Saturn Uranus opposition squaring the composite Sun late 08/09 with Pluto trine Saturn this year and the Saturn Uranus Pluto transitting T square picking up the 5 degree Capricorn Venus from late 10/12. So I''d still think a split was a distinct possibility.
