Hugo Chavez, the Venezuelan President, renowned as a hot head, was elected as President on a landslide in 1998. His pro-Cuban and anti-US rhetoric has regularly lead to strained relations and his recent chumming up with Russia is likely to lead to more. He is a flamboyant Leo with his Mars in fiery, outspoken Sagittarius in a ruthless trine to Pluto. He also has four planets in Cancer with a Jupiter, Mercury, Moon, Uranus conjunction so is overly emotional, intensely patriotic though changeable in his outlook. His Sun squares onto an obsessive Saturn in Scorpio so he carries resentments on to the nth degree, constantly feeling ill done to.
He is facing the most insecure year of his life for a long time in 2009 with tr Uranus brewing up insecurity squaring Mars with an undermining Neptune sextile and Pluto bringing tough times in a sextile to Saturn. Even before then his Presidency chart is losing some of its exuberant shine as transitting Saturn squares the Sun in late Sept 08 head for an opposition to Jupiter before the year end, with Uranus conjunct Jupiter. So the US Election result or perhaps other emerging circumstances may throw his hopes off track. At the moment and for several months his Solar Arc Saturn is conjunct his Mars which is accident prone, aggravated and usually a sign of a major setback.
Both the 1811 and 1830 Venezuelan charts hint at much the same with pressures building this year especially into November and making for a very rocky ride indeed through this year end and throughout 2009. [1811 chart - Uranus conj Pluto in Nov/Dec 08 bringing upheavals and square Jupiter opp Saturn thereafter for almost a year which is jolting changes; Saturn opposes Pluto, squares Venus, Jupiter, Mercury and squares Saturn from Oct 08 onwards which is very downbeat and trapped. Into 09 Neptune squares Mars which is undermining. 1830 chart - Pluto square Sun in Nov bringing great challenges; into 2009 Uranus conj Mars which is explosive and highly insecure with Neptune opposing Saturn bringing confusion and great anxiety.]
Oddly enough the Venezuela/Russia composite charts also indicate difficulties in the next few days and weeks suggesting the burgeoning friendship may hit a few stumbling blocks.
Dick Cheney is thoroughly aggravated by Chavez until his exit from the White House and beyond. And oddly enough the relationship between Chavez and Putin looks very on edge into 2009. Even at home Chavez doesn''t feel as secure as he once did with problems mounting through October, worsening in November and into 2009.
