Isaac Hayes, the soul icon, singer, songwriter best known for his Oscar winning music for the movie Shaft and as the voice of Chef in South Park has died. He was a Leo like so many performers with a Venus Pluto conjunction also in Leo making him ultra charming with a taste of glittering gold jewellery. His Neptune in late Virgo was trine Uranus giving a hint of the innovation which drove his creativity, but is otherwise unaspected. However his Mars and Mercury in Virgo were both conjunct his Sun/Neptune midpoint putting his energy (Mars) and communication skills (Mercury) firmly into music (Sun Neptune). He always said it wasn''t just talent that made him successful - perhaps just his modest Virgo planets talking - but also luck. And he did have Jupiter on his Sun/Uranus midpoint which gave him precisely that, the breaks he needed. He also had Pluto on his Sun/Jupiter midpoint giving him the drive and confidence to take on big projects and make them work.
His Sagittarian Moon in the 5th house of entertainment and children opposed Saturn Uranus in Gemini squaring onto NNode, Mars and Mercury in Virgo hinting at a fairly complicated emotional life. He was married four times, had 12 children, 14 grandchildren and 3 great grand children. He had a stroke in January 2006 when transitting Pluto had just moved into his 6th house of health and tr Uranus was square his heavily aspected Moon.
His 5th Harmonic chart not surprisingly was very strong being the creative Harmonic - it has an exact opposition of Mars to Pluto (and Venus) squaring onto Saturn opposition Neptune (and Jupiter). This reflects the difficulties of his life from poor beginnings in Tennessee, an orphan brought up by grandparents, (Mars Saturn Pluto) and the harshness of his experience was channelled into music (Neptune Venus) and joy (Jupiter). The strongly aspected Jupiter Neptune in his 5H perhaps also explains his Scientology beliefs since it can give an attraction towards mystical cults and psychic forms of religion.
His 12th Harmonic is also strong which describes the way in which people marry their heart and their will power. His had a fixed T square of Sun opp Mars in Leo square Uranus so he was motivated by a great and passionate urge to bring about changes (Uranus) not only in his life but in his music and in the lives of others through his charitable foundation. His 12H also had a mutable T square of Mercury opp Neptune square Pluto in Gemini which gave him his drive through his music (Merc Nep) to have influence (Pluto). Michael Harding remarks the 12H ''seems to have some bearing on the health patterns of the individual''. Princess Diana''s 12H was very marked at her death with tr Pluto square 12H Saturn opposition 12H Jupiter and even more pointedly tr Saturn conjunct the 12H 6th house Mars. So she was driven to excess (Jup Pl) by great pressure and depression (Pl Sat) into a car crash (Sat Mars). At Isaac Hayes'' death tr Neptune had just moved yesterday onto the retrograde square to the focal point Uranus, just moving off the opposition to Mars, which is debilitating. Tr Saturn was moving round the mutable T square of Merc Nep Pl about to oppose Neptune at the end of this month. Obviously he''d had similar transits earlier in his life when Neptune was in Scorpio in the 1960s but it is interesting to see the part the 12H can play.
