Ben Affleck''s Astrocartography etc From: Marjorie. (28 Jun 2008 19:37): As an addendum on Ben Affleck since nothing happens by chance in astrology - his astrocartography puts his Mars, Sun and Mercury midheaven lines through Africa with Mercury midheaven being closest in the Congo - so it''s an area which fires his ambition and brings to the fore his communication skills. On his relocated chart there he has Mercury, Sun Mars in the 10th.
The Democratic Republic of Congo (Zaire/Belgian Congo as was) was made independent on 30th June 1960 which gives it a chart with uncanny cross-overs with Afflecks. The DRCongo Sun is at 8 Cancer exactly on Affleck''s Ascendant to the degree so it almost pulls him there. And his Venus on his ascendant is at 7 Cancer and the DRC Venus is at 10 Cancer. His Jupiter is within a degree of the DRC''s Jupiter; his Sun is conjunct their Uranus so he''s keen to bring stability to their chaos; his Mars is conjunct their Pluto so he''s keen to take action and has the courage to clash with the power hungry war lords there who are wreaking havoc. His Scorpio Moon is conjunct the DRC Neptune so he feels their pain. The DRC Moon''s North Node (conjunct Moon) is exactly conjunct Affleck''s I.C. so their destiny touches him at a deep level. Interesting.
Ben Affleck From: Marjorie. (28 Jun 2008 13:49): Actors/tresses are odd creatures and in an odd situation since we tend to invest them with the characteristics of their most successful roles. Whereas in reality what they''ve done is create an illusion. Some are empty, narcissistic personalities - ''a room to let'' as someone once described them. But others have more substance.
Ben Affleck does seem brighter than most having written the successful screenplay for ''Good Will Hunting'' with his childhood friend Matt Damon and running a production company which has made documentaries including this recent one about the Congo. He''s also spoken out about celebrity activism and the dangers of it being more a self promotion than to further a cause. So he''s aware. Though it''s also true that his Congo documentary will get attention where another might not so he''s using his celebrity to sensible ends.
He''s a Leo (= entertainer) with a secretive, passionately intense Scorpio Moon which is an oddly uncomfortable combination perhaps a reflection of two incompatible parents who split when he was a child. He has Mars in Virgo in the 3rd which gives him his writing and communication skills, widely conjunct the Sun on the cusp of the 3rd and trine Jupiter so he''s a bundle of enthusiasm, very confident at one level, throwing himself wholeheartedly into whatever he does including fighting the good fight for worthy causes(Mars trine Jup) and getting on well with work colleagues (Jup in 6th) and lucky (Sun Jup). What I suspect drives him more than anything else is a Saturn opposition Jupiter squaring onto his midheaven. Jupiter Saturn oppositions fear failure more than most, tend to veer between highs and lows, optimism and pessimism rapidly - but more than anything need to balance their ideals with practicality. So they need to make money and do something fulfilling. So one would assume his work will always have to involve a meaningful result rather than just make money, boost his fame/ego etc.
Jupiter falls on his Sun/Moon midpoint which suggests the potential for a happy marriage though with Uranus and Pluto in the 4th he''s going to be affected by an unstable childhood so it may be a few years yet that he settles down. His Sun squares Jupiter/Uranus and Sun/Jupiter squares the NNode so he''s got good fortune on his side. He''s also got Jupiter conjunct Neptune/NNode ( Neptune rules the movies), and the NNode conjunct Neptune/MC so he definitely fits the film business.
This year is a mix of high confidence (Pluto conjunct Jupiter), some undermining panic (Nep opp Sun), strong words and some arguments (Pl trine Mars), and a major shift emotionally with Pluto square a 4th house Pluto. He has said the experience of filming the brutalities in the Congo have affected him profoundly. And it would be a risky business filming there (Pluto Mars). He''s moving into a better career phase as Saturn heads for his 4th late 2008 onwards though it''ll be rocky at this year end since Uranus conjuncts his midheaven as Saturn conjuncts his IC - almost as if his entire life''s direction, emotionally and careerwise was getting a major shunt onto a new track.
His Moon''s NNode is opposition Mars/Saturn which suggests tough lessons in life - and since his NNode is in Capricorn, his coming to manhood and responsibility is through experiences of deprivation and cruelty. Mars Saturn becomes conjunct in his 5th Harmonic which is the description of what he makes of his life - it''s the creative process by which we build our life as a carpenter creates a piece of furniture, not by flashes of intuition but by planning and application. In the 5H Venus opposes the midheaven squaring onto Mars Saturn NNode which suggests his road is not an easy one, with much frustration teaching self discipline. Mars Saturn also has military overtones so his greatest filmic achievements in later years with a career that looks set to span the next two decades at least - may be on war.
