John Cleese - June 08

John Cleese From: Marjorie. (26 Apr 2008 18:42): Another Virgo Ascendant with an 8th house Saturn is John Cleese, the English comedian, star of the TV classic Fawlty Towers and movies such as A Fish called Wanda. Like most comedians he has a fairly depressive streak coming from Saturn in late Aries opposition to the Sun in early Scorpio squaring onto Pluto in Leo. Life will always have felt bleak too him (Sat Pl) and unyielding, so he'd be thrown back on his own resources (Sat in Aries), never felt he came up to expectation (Sun Sat) and never felt in control of events or choices (Sun Pl). His quirky take on life will come from a Mercury in Scorpio opposition Uranus in the 9th which lets him think out of the box and see the odder side of life. Uranus opp Venus Mercury squares onto Mars in Aquarius so he'll be fairly fixed in his ways, dislike interference, be bad at compromise, and be doggedly persistent in pursuing aims which are important to him. With three planets in Scorpio he is intensely emotional, passionate in his way but with an 8th house Saturn Moon conjunction will find intimate co-operation difficult.
With transitting Saturn heading for his ascendant he will be aiming to wind down a busy schedule to find more time for less ambitious pursuits. And with his Secondary Progressed Moon within a few weeks of being conjunct his Sun he will have a sense of starting a new phase in his life as he splits from his 15 marriage to psychotherapist Alyce Eichelberg Cleese. Though with his Solar Arc Mars within two degrees/years of an exact conjunction to his 8th house Saturn he will no doubt be feeling the pain of an expensive California-style divorce. Saturn in the 8th often denotes a spouse who is a financial burden. With so many fixed planets in his chart he won't give way easily to extreme demands and into 2009 looks with Pluto sextile his Sun to be getting back in control of his life.
Cleese and Kafka From: Marjorie. (28 Apr 2008 12:49):
That kind of makes sense about Saturn Pluto and Mercury Uranus. Though Cleese and Kafka have very different kinds of charts excepting both also have fixed sign Mars aspecting Uranus. Kafka's Sun Jupiter in Cancer is much freer than Cleese's Sun opp Sat square Pluto. He's also got a lighter Moon, Mercury, Venus in Gemini not conjunct Sat Pl in Gemini in the 11th (on 7 am) birth time) which would him sound much brighter - though what little I know of his writing was deeply depressing. He did have a heavy Neptune Mars conjunction in Taurus in the 10th, with Mars conjunct Pluto and Pluto conjunct Saturn also in the 10th - mother doesn't sound too frivolous or encouraging. She was evidently better educated than her 'huge, selfish, overbearing' husband and worked in his business leaving the children to be brought up by governesses and servants.
