Kiefer Sutherland
The hugely talented Kiefer Sutherland, star of "24" and other Hollywood hit movies, presently serving jail time on a drink driving charge, has a complex and contradictory chart. Born in 1966, his late Sagittarian Sun is on the point of a mutable T square to the tricky Uranus Pluto opposition Saturn. Sagittarius is fiery, adventurous, outgoing and situated in the 12th house it gives him strong creative talents but also a need to stay hidden, and a strong need for quiet time to re-centre when he gets overwhelmed by too much going on around him. Uranus Pluto is rebellious so he's constantly pushing against boundaries; opposing Saturn it gives him stamina but also a tendency to depression.
A focal point mutable Sun will push him to succeed and gain recognition for his achievements, though the 12th house placing is ambivalent about ego-centred ambitions, so he'll be constantly fighting with himself about what he really wants. The highly emphasised mutable Sun is also prone to nervous stress. And with Uranus Pluto in the 8th house (like Evel Knievel) he will also wrestle with impulses he doesn't understand. He has another T square in Cardinal signs giving him drive, initiative as well as artistic talents and public relations ability since the Moon Mars opposition squares onto Venus. A charming, earthy Venus in Capricorn on his ascendant is what gives him good looks and a sophisticated charm with a good deal of dynamic energy behind it.
What is interesting astrologically at the moment on his chart are his tertiary progressions with an extraordinary collection of Sun, Venus, Mars and Mercury in late Gemini coming to oppose his Sun exactly during his prison time and forming a mutable Grand Square to the Uranus Pluto opposition Saturn square Sun. It was in orb at the time of his arrest in September 07. This would wind up his highly strung nervous system, making for poor judgements, and a tendency to be overly impressionable or swept along by circumstances. Pluto is also by transit due to conjunct his Sun from late December 07 staying around till late 2008. So he is under huge pressure to change. The last time Pluto hard aspected his Sun was in 1970 when his parents divorced.
These tertiary progressions which are fairly fast moving will have passed on into Cancer by the time he is released. Though 2008 will not be an easy year with difficult Pluto transits to several of his Mars midpoints - Pluto square Mars/Pluto, Mars/Saturn, Mars/Uranus and Pluto sextile Mars/Neptune. So he'll be under stress and could be accident prone. Luckily he's also got a Pluto transit to his Jupiter/Uranus in December 07 and the second half of 2008 which brings deeper understanding, creative energy and can be lucky financially. His life will change out of all recognition over the next couple of years with not only Pluto conjunct his Sun, but also Uranus opposes Pluto in 2008 and then Uranus in 2009. 2009 will bring lucky breaks and more popularity.
