Political Astrology Nicholas Sarkozy - 2009 28 January 1955 10 pm Paris, France
Sarkozy - Aquarian Eclipse speak From: Marjorie. (07 Feb 2009 11:58): Another Aquarian for whom the recent Eclipse has caused a few arguments is Nicholas Sarkozy. Not only has he had economic strikes to contend with in France recently, he now appears to have rattled Gordon Brown''s cage by suggesting GB''s economic reforms are nonsense and won''t work. Maybe not diplomatique but obviously accurate. Sarkozy''s relationship with Brown is tricky at the best of times with a power-struggling Sun Mercury opp Pluto in the relationship chart square a one-upmanship Jupiter - so was always going to be a fight for the upper hand and the subtle or not so subtle put down. There''ll be worse to come mid year between them when tr Pluto squares the composite Mars which will be real aggravation and not just a few ruffled feathers as now. Although Sarkozy was feeling a touch unpopular during the recent strikes with tr Saturn square his Venus, on the whole he''s in a lucky year with tr Uranus trine his 10th house Jupiter and Uranus - so positive changes of direction with opportunities suddenly presenting themselves. His composite with France although a touch rattled by the January Eclipse (on the composite Moon, Mars, Saturn in Aquarius opp Uranus) really isn''t showing much aggro this year. He knows he was voted in on a reform mandate and will plough ahead. There are murmurs he might be facing problems with the rising popularity of the ''Red Postman'', Olivier Besancenot, the far left, anti-capitalist politician. He started as a communist, has been called Trotskyist, certainly claims to be a revolutionary, and thinks no employee should be sacked and everything should be state owned. He is on the march this weekend. He has a most peculiar chart (18 Apr 1974, 8.50pm Levallois Perret,Fr) with an 8th house Mars Saturn conjunction square Pluto which certainly hints at what the Telegraph yesterday said of him. "Many seem to be happy to turn a blind eye to his darker side; this surfaced late last year when a judge revoked the parole of Jean-Marc Rouillan, a leader of Action Directe, a revolutionary group in the 1980s, who was serving life for murder. Mr Rouillan broke the terms of his release by giving an interview in which he backed Mr Besancenot and showed no remorse for the 1986 killing of the chairman of the Renault company. Mr Besancenot refused to disown Rouillan." Besancenot also has a 6th house Aries Sun (sextile Mars Saturn) in a rebellious opposition to Uranus (trine Mars Saturn) - he looks rather wild and way-out and will be facing major problems in 2010 when tr Uranus squares that Mars Saturn of his. Although France has an eccentric tradition of taking to extreme candidates it seems unlikely he''ll be much of a long term threat though he could split the vote if he garners enough support. His Mars Saturn squares the France Virgo Sun and France''s Saturn is conjunct his Sun - so he''d be seen as too disruptive. CHART: A sociable 5th house Aquarian Sun suggests the French President has a party and attention-loving personality and is good at holding centre-stage. A lucky and adventurous Jupiter Uranus conjunction in his 10th hints at success in life which comes suddenly through good fortune, bringing status and recognition. Though his career will never be even paced, always subject to ups and downs which is how he likes it. His Sun sextiles onto a Moon Mars conjunction in the 7th, perhaps a hint of his attraction to feisty ladies which whom he has a sparky, at times tempestuous connection. He can also be very outspoken in his career, often ruffling feathers as Mars in Aries is hot headed, not always tactful. He has a more sombre side from a fixed T square of Mercury in Aquarius opposition Pluto square Saturn in Scorpio. This gives him stamina, immense staying power, a depressive streak and a positively obsessional streak about getting things right. Saturn on the point of the T square gives him executive and managerial abilities, makes him very driven, dictatorial and not good at compromise. It is this fixed T square of his which clashes mightily with the rebellious, inflammatory fixed T square on the France national chart of Uranus opposition Pluto square Mars in Scorpio. Since he was elected to resolve France’s economic woes by loosening the workers’ grip on out-dated employment benefits which are crippling the country’s finances, this makes sense. But the strikes of 2007 won’t be the last since both Sarkozy and the country are immensely stubborn and both set on their own divergent agenda. He is in an upswing career-wise until 2010 which may be long enough to see him through the worst of France’s forced changes coming in 2008 as Pluto squares the national Virgo Sun. Thereafter he’ll do less well. 2008 will be a mixed year with great highs and success as well as unremitting slog with some depression at others. Emotionally he’s in a complicated time with a recent divorce as Saturn opposed his Sun/Moon midpoint, making him feel separated which recurs in mid 2008. Pluto is going through his 4th for many years to come which will bring emotional and domestic challenges and Uranus is heading into his 7th so finding a settled, committed partnership will not be easy for him. From December 07 onwards till late 2008 he’ll be feeling intense about romantic attachments though there will be a few surprises and ups and downs along the way, especially in May and August. Sarkozy & USA: The supposedly cosy Sarkozy Bush relationship has deception, self and otherwise, written large with Neptune conjunct Venus and opposition the composite Sun. There’s also a Mars Saturn square so simmering resentments will spill over at some point. Saturn is certainly putting a damper on their bonhomie in Feb and July 08; and Neptune undermines their active partnership in May and June. Disappointments loom. The Sarkozy/Cheney relationship is more obviously fraught. The composite has a Sun, Mars, Saturn opposition Pluto and they don’t get much more difficult than that – outright dislike, a rather brutal connection. Neptune is also trine the Sun Mars Saturn which is confused and suspicious. There’s also a Moon Neptune opposition – more delusion and deception - which will come under strain through 2008 as Pluto squares the Moon. The only plus point is a Jupiter trine Sun (trine Neptune in air signs) so there’s a hint of intellectual (up-in-the-head) rapport. Sarkozy & Europe: Sarkozy’s relationship with Angela Merkel, the German leader is tricky despite there being less than six months difference in age between them. There’s a power struggle between them with real irritation, held very controlled by a cold defensiveness in their attitude when together. Sarkozy is instinctively in love with the idea of the EU, which gives him a warm glow when he considers what it could be – unless it starts to interfere in France’s internal affairs. 2008 and 09 could take the shine of his idealism slightly as he faces what the realities are.
